1966
Six area farmers join together to form Creston Fertilizer Company. Founders included Dan Kallweit, Leroy Kallweit, Wilbert Schwanebeck, Floyd Schwanebeck, Tom Hoesly, and Bill Oeltjen. Together, they owned and operated the original equipment that started it all.
1967
Officially open for business with the company’s first customer.
1968
First company office opened on Creston, Nebraska main street. First employee hired and company expanded offerings to include the sale of crop protection products.
1973 - 1974
Creston Fertilizer Company becomes Incorporated and the first NH3 transport is purchased.
1977 - 1979
Company purchases former Creston Grain & Lumber and Creston Manufacturing properties. Office moves to new locations to house expanded equipment fleet and crop protectant inventory.
1979 - 1981
Stine Seed, Wil-Rich & Blumhardt farm equipment, and commodities hauling added to the company’s offerings.
1982
Creston Fertilizer purchased land and fertilizer equipment fleet from Farmers Coop in Creston.
1984
Liquid Fertilizer plant built including storage tanks and blender.
1987 - 1989
Creston Transportation formed and purchased propane business from Oschner Grain in Madison, NE. All equipment and facilities moved to Creston and propane delivery service offered. Company purchased 23 acres of land plus a warehouse from Leigh By-Products.
1994
Lime products division established and custom lime application service offered.
1995
New 40’ x 120’ dike-type tank farm constructed for the liquid fertilizer plant.
1996
Pioneer Seed agreement made. Stine Seed offering discontinued.
2001
New 100’ x 200’ seed and storage shed built providing drive-thru service for customer pick-up.
2002
New tank farm and pumping station installed next to the new crop protection products building.
2003
Creston Fertilizer expands to include 30+ retail partners located in Nebraska and South Dakota.
2004
Creston LP Gas Service, Inc. was established and Rock & Gravel containment built to provide new offerings
2006
Pioneer Agribusiness provider with expanded offerings and member of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce
2006
A bulk & bag seed storage & seed treatment facility was established on Hwy. 91, north of Creston
2007
30,000 gal. storage tank was added for retail propane storage.
2013
New dry fertilizer storage building with blender established on Hwy 91
2020
1.2 Million gallon liquid storage tank #1 completed on Hwy 91
2022
1.2 Million gallon liquid storage tank #2 completed on Hwy 91
2024
